Democrats excel at sound bites and setting the narrative for a situation. Mostly they excel because the MSM repeats their narrative over and over until people began to accept it as truth.
Sensitive to the criticism of Obama in front of a Che mural, doing The Wave at a baseball game surrounded by despots, and dancing the Tango while Europe blows u, his supporters have put out a poster of Reagan with some communist and Bush with some despot. Honestly, I don’t remember which despot but it really doesn’t matter because:
1] Che was never Head of State in Cuba. It’s one thing to go to Russia, where a pic near Lenin’s tomb is mandatory since he is seen as the Father of Modern Russia, and was the head of the nation. Refusing to have a pic in front of his tomb would have been as insulting as a Russian Premier refusing to stand in front of a statue of George Washington here. It’s not an insult to America if a visiting head doesn’t take a pic in front of the Jefferson Davis or Crazy Horse memorial. A GOP president might stand in front of a Stalin or Lenin statue but no one thinks he need stand in front of [KGB head] Beria’s homeplace. Che was the Enforcer, a murderous thug who lined thousands of Cubans against a wall and shot them – that was his modus operandus – because they opposed the Castro communist takeover of Cuba. Often that opposition was merely vocal or a printed pamphlet. Che liked to kill and he shot whoever he wanted for whatever reason. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/215531/che-chic-jay-nordlinger
2] If you look at a video of the Che photo shoot, there were several minutes involved in the setup and the crowd, including Obama, deliberately moves from one position to walk around the plaza to get in front of the mural. Obama, in fact, raises his arms and leads others in front of the mural. IOW, he had ample opportunity to position himself in the plaza w/o standing directly in front of Che. Everyone – the Cubans, the photographers, even Obama clearly understood the significance of the photo.
3] There was no need for Obama to pander to the Cubans, he had already handed them a huge propaganda victory by going there, a huge economic victory by allowing American companies to work with the communist regime, and didn’t ask the slightest concession in return, not even the extradition of American criminals who had hidden there for year.
4] Nobody ever thought Reagan or Bush was sympathetic to communist China or communist Russia or even a Caribbean dictator but there’s always been questions with Obama and the far left. In 2008 an official Obama campaign office was photographed with large Che posters on display during the presidential election but the MSM ignored it and Obama didn’t denounce it. The Obama family “best friends” Beyoncé and JayZ went to Cuba last year – an obvious prelude to the Obama visit – and they wore Che tee shirts while there. RadChic is often stupid, after all, Che despised the African race.
BTW, I thought it was a sound decision for Obama to go to Argentina and I didn’t think he needed to cancel the Argentinian trip – he shouldn’t have been in Cuba period – but for someone who’s supposedly so media-savvy, the photo optics were horrendous. Grinning like a jackass at a ball game seated beside a dictator and with FARC members in attendance in Cuba plus that tango in Argentina. Didn’t it occur to Obama or ValJar or someone to ask the Argentinians – an important nation to us and a chance to mend relations with a new president there – to simply tone things down a bit?
And who knew Obama was such a lousy dancer? He looked downright clumsy, despite the support of an expert tango partner.
This is a short vid showing Obama and the group moving to get in front of the Che mural, there’s a longer vid out there showing how long the move really was. Plenty of time for a US president to suggest just taking the pic there on the lot instead of moving in front of a mass murderer.
