The best reason to live here is that it’s so darn gorgeous. I love these autumn days and nights, wonderful for hiking or camping or just working outside. I love the tulip poplar trees this time of year. When I was growing up lots of people, including my family, would burn coal in their pot-bellied stoves on autumn nights and I loved that smell in the neighborhood. It’s one of those odors so common in childhood that’s gone forever due to so many changes in our society. That’s not very common now but people still burn their fireplaces at night and the wood smells nice, too.

Just when you thought Obama couldn’t get more loathsome….

Yeh some of his UN speech sounded good, the parts of his speech when he  tried to emulate George W Bush and George H W Bush.

When he clumsily inserted Ferguson to show the world we aren’t perfect in America. Ugh, double Ugh. I thought, “Can’t we impeach that bastard!?” Isn’t he supposed to know a little bit about the law? This shooting is still under investigation, and he has no business interfering in a legal matter under investigation? Hasn’t he ever heard of “presumed  innocence?”  How dare he assume the guilt of the policeman, without any consideration that this was a tragic but legal shooting.

Does anyone seriously believe the world delegates on the verge of going to war against global terror extremists were sitting there thinking, “But what about Ferguson?” That’s idiocy. The only person thinking about Ferguson was President Obama and the real question is why?

This speech proves once again that Obama is not a serious man. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a president who loved the United States, was proud of the United States? There’s never been a perfect nation but no other leader consistently apologizes for general and specific deficiencies. Largely unreported at the time but very telling is that after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the US Marines went to render aid. President Obama ordered that the Marines take down their display of the US flag for fear the Haitians would fear we were invading them. Of all the nations there, the US was the only country not flying the flag. Why shouldn’t France be ashamed to fly their flag? Haiti was once their colony, it was impoverished while a colony and after.  Do you think the Haitians worried about invasion? My guess is they would love to be a part of the US. BTW, of all the nations, the Haitians clearly favored aid rendered by the US Marines. The US military is known for the world over for competent humanitarian relief efforts. Obama, much like the European and Scandinavian nations, has a history of reaching out to “moderate” Muslims but not knowing who’s moderate and who isn’t . Multiculturism and appeasement is working out horribly for Europe and Scandinavia, why can’t we learn from their mistakes? The liberal media can make fun of me all they want. This act was still disrespectful. The comparison to Bush’s lame salute is pathetic. Bush was carrying his dog, and awkwardly trying to still show respect by saluting, albeit an awkward salute. Obama couldn’t bother putting his Styrofoam cup in the other hand. Was he just too lazy? Doesn’t care? Too stupid? I don’t think he cares. Why is this such a big deal to conservatives? Because Obama has a record of disrespect and lack of appreciation of the military, both before and after he became president. George W Bush might have been clumsy but there’s no doubt he respected the military, so did his WWII hero pilot dad. Let’s put the spotlight on Big Green for a change

Greenies love to label any money associated with any fossil fuel as dirty. They love to damn any infraction by fossil fuels to the land or wildlife or plant, no matter how small. The life of a little beetle that was previously unknown is as important as the lives of a million humans who depend on coal for heat or water for agriculture.  How does Big Green and the Obama admin stand up under a bit more scrutiny than usual? It’s crazy out there.

Who does/pays the maintenance? What happens during storms when windmills off-shore fall into the sea and leach dangerous heavy metals from the engine into the wildlife-filled waters? What about the noise, to both humans and animals? Since Britain has closed down coal-fired power plants and other fossil fuels, what happens if the windmills don’t produce enough electricity, especially during a very cold winter?
