Kirsten Powers has written another excellent article, accusing liberals of burying their heads in the sand to avoid the horrific truth of the Gosnell trial and continue pretending he was an aberration. http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2013/04/29/gosnells-abortion-atrocities-no-aberration-column/2122235/

I’m afraid I have problems listening to the news but for a different reason. It’s very difficult to listen and read about human beings, babies, while the doctors and staff pretend they’re “things.’ If you haven’t seen them elsewhere, here’s the latest videos from the group Live Action, proving those views aren’t an aberration. I’m guessing that when you think of an unborn baby, a fetus, as a “thing” then you can treat them in ways you wouldn’t treat a bird or even birds’ eggs, a la the DDT ban.

You need to completely watch them both.

Here’s the videos, courtesy http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/04/if-not-for-prior-gosnell-twitter-campaign-would-msm-be-covering-bronx-dc-revelations/ “Flush it” and “…so it won’t come out in pieces…” and “….cause then it might hurt your life..” and “It’s all in how vigorously you help a fetus survive at this point.” Notice how important the word games have become.

I wonder if any of these women keep a kidney or gallstone in a jar for a while after medical procedures for kidney or gallstone because they’re fascinated by that thing that was inside and taken out but kill their unborn baby.

I don’t want to hear anymore crap about ‘women could change the world’ and ‘women are nurturers’ and ‘women are naturally antiwar’ and that garbage. There’s nothing gentle, nurturing, or enlightened about letting someone stick poisons up you,  tear the unborn baby inside you to bits while sucking it out of you, and if the poor thing manages to survive all that, then kill it, kill it quickly.

Remember these are people who attacked the GOP for their War on Women, the same people who claim to be the compassionate party, the same people who lecture us about women’s health.

Obama likes to echo Bill Clinton’s words, the stock phrase of feminists, liberals and pro-choicers: “Safe, legal and rare.” Obviously none of those words are correct. It’s not always safe for the mother, it’s never safe for the unborn, it’s not always legal and it’s anything but rare.

This is, of course, illegal. Like most liberal news sources, the CBC is likely largely white but they think they can break law and ethical codes at will, all for a public face and profile to haul out when desired. After initially defending the ad, the CBC has now removed it, saying it was “wrong.”  Well of course, it was “wrong,” liberal news media, academia, and other institutions are expected to put on a neutral public face, then do what hypocrisies they want in private.

Get a load of this Georgetown University grad student who reviewed the initial screening process for employment: http://www.avoiceformen.com/georgetown-university-and-men/georgetown-university-in-a-cover-up/

At the time I am writing this a scandal is erupting across the internet involving  prestigious Georgetown University and tied to one of their former employees, [redacted], a Georgetown grad student who says she was hired to read and process applications for admissions to the school.

She claims she had a very interesting system for screening applicants. The applications from white males were trashed, regardless of qualifications.

[…] In her own words:

I can’t tell you how many applications I saw that were just dripping with white male privelege[sic].  Any of those that I saw basically went straight to the garbage can regardless of how good their qualifactions [sic] were.  If I saw an application from a white male that basically was just good test scores, and activities like chess club or math club or what not then it shows me this person is not interested in a diverse environment.  Obviously he made no effort in integrating with minorities or to sympathize with them and is counting on male privilege to get in.  So that kind of application should get ignored.  In their place I admitted a female student.  This goes double especially for math/science majors.

When push came to shove, she rejected non-white men in favor of women of any race:

I’m happy to say that I approved nearly 90% of all female minority and 80% of all (white female applicants especially if the girls want to study math or science) while rejecting over 50% of  white males this week and hope this trend holds out.

Isn’t all this stuff creepy? How incredibly naïve of me to wish employers would consider many characteristics of applicants and none of them would be remotely related to gender, race, religion, or political ideology.

Political correctness has proven incredibly destructive to Western society.

Texas wildflowers

Lady Bird Johnson did an amazing job of helping us save many wildflowers and drawing national attention to their beauty.

I had a quick  reminder of a line from Dolly Bantry in Miss Marple’s The Body in the Library with Joan Hickson. Dolly worries about her husband as a murder suspect and says something like ‘ Oh, Jane, sometimes Arthur acts a little silly with a pretty girl at tennis but it’s nothing. And after all, I have my garden.’

There’s a lot of compromises with getting older, eh? President Lyndon Baines Johnson was a notorious womanizer throughout his marriage. Lady Bird accepted it as a compromise of being married to someone she considered a great man. Frankly I think he was one of the worst presidents ever, creating or expanding some of the entitlements haunting us now.

Anyway, here’s a video of Texas wildflowers from the Texas Country Reporter show. I watch the show sometimes on RFD-TV.

Of course it’s cold out there, baby. Everyone pretty much agrees, including the Russians. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/04/29/russian-scientists-say-period-of-global-cooling-ahead-due-to-changes-in-the-sun/#more-85202

Due to the cold weather, corn planting is way down, US corn planting ties for the second lowest on record. http://tomnelson.blogspot.com/2013/04/very-cold-spring-results-in-only-5-of.html Tom Nelson cites multiple sources attesting to the low numbers of planted crop; it’s considerably down from last year.

The lies we have heard about coal – continued particle pollution, mercury, harmful carbon, air pollution – have taken their toll on our cheapest and most reliable source of energy. I support natural gas and oil and everything else that the free market can support; I believe in an ‘all of the above” energy production that includes coal. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/04/29/clean-coal-by-wire/

Today’s Asian smogs have many sources – forest fires in Indonesia; open air cremations in India; dust from volcanic eruptions and desert storms; soot, ash and other pollutants from millions of domestic rubbish fires, mosquito fires, cooking fires and heaters using anything combustible – cow dung, wood, paper, cardboard, plastic or cheap unwashed coal; and soot and unburnt hydro-carbons from millions of vehicles, many with engines needing maintenance and no pollution controls. Beijing today combines the 1950’s problems of both London and Los Angeles.

The Asian smog is NOT caused by producing electricity in modern power stations with closed boilers, pollution controls and using high-quality washed coal such as exported by Australia to Asia. The “power station pollution” pictured so eagerly in ABC and Green propaganda is actually steam from the cooling towers.

The main products released by modern coal-fired power stations are water vapour and carbon dioxide – both are essential life supporters. Neither one is dangerous. Both make our climate more liveable, but the contribution of carbon dioxide to climate is tiny. And the carbon dioxide produced by burning coal has done more to encourage the growth of plants and the greening of planet Earth than Greenpeace will ever do.

Germany is regretting the decision to turn its back on coal-fired plants and nuclear energy. Last year residents were cutting down trees in public forest as well as trespassing on private forests in an effort to keep warm with wood stoves. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/04/23/germany-to-open-six-more-coal-power-stations-in-2013/#more-84720

Germany’s dash for coal continues apace. Following on the opening of two new coal power stations in 2012, six more are due to open this year, with a combined capacity of 5800MW, enough to provide 7% of Germany’s electricity needs.

Including the plants coming on stream this year, there are 12 coal fired stations due to open by 2020. Along with the two opened last year in Neurath and Boxberg, they will be capable of supplying 19% of the country’s power.

In addition, 27 gas fired stations are due on line, which should contribute a further 17% of Germany’s total electricity generation.

This was a missed opportunity back in 1993 http://junkscience.com/2013/04/30/20-years-ago-4-30-93-democrat-controlled-senate-narrowly-votes-down-bill-to-compel-epa-cost-benefit-analysis-for-major-rules/

Said Nickles, “But if we are talking about serious legislation, legislation that will cost over 10,000 jobs or cost the economy more than $ 100 million, we should know it. Congress should know it, the executive branch should know it. We should acknowledge it.

“And maybe it will change the way we vote or the way the administration would carry forward … Maybe not. “

http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/baby-dies-whooping-cough-orange-co/nXXqP/

I hate the political-celebrity connection. If celebrities want to support a cause or pol, that’s fine but they shouldn’t have any more clout than any other citizen. Remember when Jenny McCarthy spoke before Congress on an imagined link between autism and vaccinations? What did she know about science, especially an unproven link in the developing study of autism? Evidently she based her ‘science’ on one highly controversial article in the British medical journal The Lancet, and a great of anecdotes and intuition.

That article in usually reliable journal, highly pummeled by other scientists from day one, led to a highly-publicized renunciation and loss of stature in The Lancet. The doctor who did the “study” and wrote the article was stripped of his medical license because this wasn’t simply an error but a case of fraud, with the doctor trying to sue the vaccine manufacturers and pocket the money. The real question is: how did this little bit of unproven info give McCarthy enough clout to become an expert witness to Congress, plus the round of television talk and news shows? Jim Carrey, a partner to McCarthy at the time, became another instant expert and helped formed a [tax-sheltered]  foundation to encourage others to forego vaccinations for their children.

BTW, Robert Kennedy Jr was also a proponent of the autism-vaccination link, which is in line with his anthropogenic global warming science extreme activism. In fact, he used the mercury-containing preservative thimerosol  link in vaccinations to push against mercury evils in our environment, primarily from coal-fired power plants.  Shut down the coal mines, please, and use solar and wind, in which it just so happens RFKJr and his buddies like Al Gore have huge amounts of money invested.  Magazines such as the leftwing Salon and Rolling Stone were forced to retract articles of his pushing that nebulous link. Like all his other causes, RKJ raised money off this and kept the money under the umbrella of his groups. http://www.forbes.com/sites/matthewherper/2011/01/18/why-salons-autism-retraction-matters/

None of these three have publicly apologized or admitted their ignorance, let alone tried to atone for the mistakes others made based on their advocacy. Can’t we sue RFKJr, Jenny McCarthy, and Jim Carrey for damages? Aren’t they culpable at all?

The mistakes, in the form of parents who distrust vaccinations and refuse to allow healthcare professionals to administer them to their children, are starting to accumulate.  Orange County [FL} officials say this is the first whooping cough death there in at least 20 years. They also said last year had 1 case of measles and 42 cases of whooping cough. This year there have already been 4 cases of measles and 12 cases of whooping cough so it’s on the rise even from 2012.

To some of us seniors, this is unbelievable. I recall taking the newly developed polio vaccine at the Russell YMCA and seeing the emotional parents in the lines crying in relief. I have multiple friends who had polio as children, and my husband had playmates who died from polio. I have a close family member who died from diphtheria in the 1940’s. Vaccinations have saved countless lives; this is insanity.

Maybe pushing for gun control makes people like Carrey feel good about themselves again. Maybe they’re control freaks under all that liberal do-goody exterior. Or maybe they just want the public and MSM to forget about all their stupid mistakes and concentrate on their newest ’cause.’

Groan: ‘Tired’ Elk?

You have to worry a little about an elk with a tire stuck around her neck but there is a little humor here since it doesn’t seem to be a big problem. Although we have a healthy elk population here in Kentucky, including Eastern Kentucky, this elk is in Morrison, Colorado.

I don’t see any humor there, it just seems to be political. I guess you can be political about a tragedy, as long as you’re not one of those hypocrites who demands people of the other political stripe be ‘civil’ while you’re doing this kind of stuff.

And yes, I think it’s just a cheap shot at Texas governor Rick Perry from a Californian.

http://dailyindependent.com/local/x1097424712/Actress-Ashley-Judd-purchases-house-in-Ashland

The sale was finalized the end of March, right before Ashley Judd announced she wouldn’t run for the US Senate. She bought the little house on Morningside Drive that her father used to own. I drive by there several times a week on my way to the Tim Horton drive-thru but I didn’t notice any big goings on there, although there were several extra cars  on the street for a couple of days.

Did she plan on using it to establish residency in Kentucky to run against Mitch McConnell next year? Does she plan on using it to establish residency to capture Rand Paul’s Senate seat if he runs for president in 2016? Is she just all sentimental all of a sudden? Her dad moved to Louisville several years ago. I have no idea but I’m thinking there’s something political to it.

BTW, the house cost $120,000. Although that’s a dead end street with a little cul-de-sac, I wouldn’t think it would be real private that close to 13th Street.

Heh, maybe she did it to tick off her mom and grandma, both of whom seemed less than enthusiastic about Ashley’s political ambitions. After the story broke about Winonna and Ashley having different fathers, and all the mud Naomi slung at Ashley’s dad in her book, there’s not a lot of good feelings between those two families. Easy to see why he moved.
