Yeh I know that’s a whiny thing to say but jeez Louise, things are bad and getting worse, it doesn’t much feel like America. This is what happens when a radical European socialist gets reelected and has nothing to lose. Yesterday I simply couldn’t repeat the bad news on my blog.

My blog. Wonder how long it will be before the new Internet requires a license to start a blog and the gov’t censors what it doesn’t like? http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/414380/fcc-chair-refuses-testify-congress-ahead-net-neutrality-vote-andrew-Johnson I’m with Don Surber, Congress needs to throw a couple of haughty bureaucrats in jail; who do these jerks think they work for anyway? and billionaire investor is not happy about the new ObamaNet either, he’s saying what others fear: This will not not end well. http://www.breitbart.com/video/2015/02/26/cuban-fcc-net-regs-will-spill-over-tv-as-you-know-it-is-over/

The worst news, of course, is the capitulation by Mitch McConnell on everything that he was reelected to fix. Do people in DC not realize how much the EO amnesty will change America, how wrong it is, and how much Middle America hates this threat to our national security and culture? http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/02/26/mcconnell-faces-conservative-backlash-over-compromise-to-fund-dhs-dems-get-on/  and http://www.nationalreview.com/article/414428/our-illiberal-immigration-policy-leads-chaos-victor-davis-hanson and http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/02/23/dem-rep-amnesty-fight-will-decide-who-controls-country-for-next-30-years/

Why not shut down the DHS, another stinking bureaucracy that exists to provide jobs to people so they’ll continue to vote for Big Government? It’s only a few years old and Americans hate much of it but already it’s a sacred cow? Remember how some conservatives, most libertarians and all liberals hated the DHS when George W created it?

Too bad the GOP is more afraid of the MSM than voters. It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that the media is not only liberal, not only elected Obama, not only protect Obama and the Democrats but they target Republicans with rage and contempt but the GOP has to learn to talk to Americans over the media or else the party will become obsolete, most likely replaced by a libertarian version. I thought McConnell was smart, look how he played his hand at the outset, throwing shutdown of DHS off the table just to get the media off his back. Someone in the GOP has to say in a voice clearly understood by Americans that the Democrats and Obama care more about jobs and votes of foreigners than it does protecting Americans. That’s what an open borders policy is. How can you be a nation if you have no borders?

Cant the GOP at least fight, even if they don’t win? Just what we need, another Eric Holder, who’ll let Obama do anything and play politics with the DOJ to a scale unimaginable before. http://hotair.com/archives/2015/02/26/senate-judiciary-committee-votes-to-confirm-loretta-lynch-as-ag-thanks-to-three-republicans/

This woman should be in jail. http://freebeacon.com/issues/lois-lerner-received-129k-in-bonuses/

Obama is a product of the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian left. Jimmy Carter was an idiot who brought the extreme Islamists to power in Iran, Obama is the bigger idiot who’s going to give the bomb to a nation which believes its sacred duty is to destroy both Israel and the United States. I’ve watched the growth of Iran as a terrorist nation and supporter of international terror for 30 years and it’s unbelievable to me that our president is so stupid and vain that he thinks his personal trust of Rouhani overrides everything else. http://www.timesofisrael.com/now-we-know-who-to-believe-on-iran/  and http://www.clarionproject.org/analysis/new-secret-iranian-nuclear-facility-revealed#

Yesterday someone asked me why I considered Grimes a weak candidate when others called her “strong.” Why? Because she was too needy, too dependent on her dad’s political clout and on both Hillary and Bill Clinton, not to mention our Dem governor. It’s obvious the Clintons didn’t intend to campaign as many times as late as they did and Grimes desperately clung to all, especially Bill Clinton. Not an image of a “strong woman.”

Plus her answers on subjects outside of talking points showed she lacked the gravitas needed for the Senate, such as her ditzy Iron Dome answer. She’d do better as governor candidate but I think Jack Conway – defeated by Mitch in 2008 – has his eye on that.

Too much Hollywood for Kentucky. Why the heck did all those celebrities and big rich fat cats with global warming agendas spend so much $$ on Grimes? They obviously expected a ROI. We’re not so dumb here we didn’t figure that out. http://deadline.com/2014/11/mitch-mcconnell-midterm-elections-2014-jeffrey-katzenberg-hollywood-2-1201273165/

A foreign and more neutral report on the election and Mitch’s role in it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2821195/Republicans-way-victory-Senate-seats-two-states-hope-landslide-Democrats.html?ito=social-twitter_dailymailus

Was it as simple as this for Mitch and Capito? Coal. Guns. Freedom. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/the-2014-election-story-kentucky-and-west-virginia-edition-coal.-guns.-freedom./article/2555723

Recognizing Obama’s radical ideology before most people did, Mitch McConnell refused to be a lame go-along-with on the President’s big projects such as ObamaCare, and bet that America would in time reject Obama, his methods and his policies. http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2014/11/05/how-mitch-mcconnell-outsmarted-obama/

I don’t like to hit people when they’re down but this was a bad “concession” speech from Alison Grimes. She spent most of the speech building herself up, never mentioned McConnell or congratulated him and never actually conceded. Grimes inexperience and immaturity took center stage here. Video here. http://hotair.com/archives/2014/11/05/strong-kentucky-woman-not-particularly-gracious-in-concession/  Mitch, in contrast, was extremely gracious in his victory speech

BTW most nations would love to have our abundant coal resources. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/11/03/newsbytes-the-new-coal-boom/ and good news: the AGW tirade, which some of us consider a scam, is losing steam as a voting issue. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2014/11/climate-change-an-issue-for-losers.php

I’ll end with a post from Charleston, WV newspaper columnist Don Surber, a favorite of mine. Read it all, here’ a tease. http://www.donsurber.blogspot.com/2014/11/the-sun-finally-shines-on-west-virginia.html#more

West Virginians simply are sick of living in a state that used to be. There used to be a chemical plant over there. There used to be a church. There used to be a school. There used to be a car dealership. When I moved to Charleston 30 years ago, the smell in Nitro was awful. People said it smelled like money.

Today the air is fresh in Nitro. The shops are closed. Food stamps replaced paychecks. I am not sure about the drug scene in Nitro but in other parts of the state, the first thing you do when you get a Medicaid card is get a prescription for pain medication — and get high. Not everyone, of course, but just enough to make life awfully difficult for the rest of us.

In the past, people sick of this worn-out state left. Now we stay and fight.

We are better than this. West Virginia is our state. West Virginia does not belong to coal companies — or trial lawyers — or newspapers — or dog tracks (our governor’s family’s business) — or the unions — or the tax-exempt lefties who oppose any and all activities of Man.

CNN, FOX call it for Mitch

Even though low % of votes tallied, McConnell is running 10-20% higher than 2008 in every KY county. He won 2008 by a narrow margin of little over 5%, but that was a Democratic year.  http://legalinsurrection.com/2014/11/senate-election-results/#more-105017

Lots of talk about voter ID; I had to show ID today even though I’ve been a regular voter in big and little elections for years. New people manning the books here but they checked my ID – and my husband’s – very carefully. Okay with me. What’s the big deal? Don’t give me that line about poor people w/o cars. Every state, county or town that wants to impose ID laws offers transportation to/from a location to obtain an ID and offers free ID. If they can’t make it to get a free ID, how the heck are they going to vote?

The nation is in an anti-incumbent mood and Mitch is devoid of charm but I think we’ll vote to keep him again. Some reasons are anti-Grimes and some are pro-Mitch.

1. Grimes is a weak candidate. There are undoubtedly some KY Dems who could beat Mitch but Grimes isn’t one. She’s not as weak as Ashley Judd, but Ashley helped set the paradigm of a weak liberal woman candidate against Mitch. Grimes has the support of unions, the media and Dems but she has still been gaffe-prone and lacking a clear agenda other than ‘beat Mitch.’ That’s not enough to overcome her weaknesses.

2. We hate identity politics here, and that’s Grimes primary claim to fame. Too bad for Grimes, the WarOnWomen message wasn’t really that strong here and it’s beginning to wane nation-wide just when Grimes needs it most. If only that darn Mitch would call her a bitch. Instead it’s the Dems who practiced sexist politics against his wife Elaine Chao. The Dems bet on her Chinese family repelling voters in a red state but Chao is an accomplished woman w/o a hint of scandal. Kentucky voters were the recipient of identity politics from the Obama Dems and the MSM, and it’s ugly as hell. Dumb racists bitter gun clingers hick religion voters get to vote, too, and here our votes count.

The strongest woman candidate we ever had here was Democrat Governor Martha Layne Collins, who never resorted to identity politics but who was, frankly, attractive and feminine. Yes it was a different time but she was also smart and tough.

3. Grimes bet her political farm on the Clintons but I think the Clinton brand is a bit faded, even in KY. Bill Clinton, the Big Dog himself, came here to Ashland the other day amid a boatload of MSM hype and Dem enthusiasm. I didn’t bother going – I saw him when he visited as president – and the local paper reported a crowd of 800. The paper is Dem so even that may be overstated but it’s a paltry number. BTW, the weather was very nice so that wasn’t a factor. Worse for Grimes, I think we voted for Hillary in 2008 more as an anti-Obama vote than a pro-Hillary vote. In any event, Hillary is a flawed candidate here after her years with Obama and the Benghazi debacle.

4. Grimes has nothing in the way of accomplishments, other than being born Jerry Lundergan’s daughter, which is how she got to be Kentucky’s Secretary of State and where she did nothing memorable. Hey, Lexington voted out the grandson of former Governor Happy ChandlerBen Chandler in the US House – so not electing  a political operative’s daughter is no big deal.

5. The unions went heavy for Clinton both times and they’re still a powerhouse for state Dems but here in Eastern Kentucky, their numbers have dwindled and no amount of anti-business rhetoric can hide the fact that it’s due to a slow economic recovery under the Dems and Obama’s obstinate policies.

6. McConnell has discrete accomplishments, including holding the line against the unpopular ObamaCare and CapnTrade, and is definitely pro-coal and pro- KY natural resources.

7. McConnell is likely our next Senate Majority Leader if the GOP garners control of the Senate, replacing the odious and hateful race-baiting Harry Reid. Grimes can’t even say she won’t support Harry Reid if elected.

8. We know Grimes will tote the Obama-Dem line, partly because she is too weak to fight and partly because we know she’s a liberal Dem. I got a ‘voting guide’ from NewPower, the very liberal PAC of the enviro group KCTCS [Kentuckians for the Commonwealth] and they clearly touted her for all the populist crap now touted by Obama Dems, e.g. Elizabeth Warren. Yep, Grime’s a liberal Dem.

9. We need to vote against big-government Dems in the only way that matters.

10. Seldom mentioned but very important is that 2016 will be huge because so many Senate Republicans will be up for re-election in a presidential race that will turnout huge numbers of Democratic voters. In a tough 2016 election, we need as big a barrier against the liberal-Dems-running-as-centrists as we can mange this year.

10. Perhaps most important, we can no longer allow the MSM to elect our nation’s leaders. Obama was elected because of media bias, proving that not only are the media exceeding their authority but they’re as incompetent as the leaders they elect.

We elected Obama because of media bias, and we have to stop our “radical transformation” to the likes of France, Greece or Venezuela. There was 2012 bumpersticker that read:This isn’t an election, it’s  restraining order. We are running out of time.

Obama doesn’t help her any, he’s such a narcissist he can’t stay out of the picture. He’s like his “diplomat,” he has to tell you when he’s doing something sneaky out of the headlines. He has to get credit for everything. Here he goeson Al Sharpton’s radio show and announces, yeh, those redstate Dem candidates are lying about not supporting him but he doessn’t mind. When they win, they’ll be his. Thanks, Obama. That’s just what most of us think about Alison Grimes. She’s taking money you made for the Dems by your profligate fund-raising but somehow she won’t owe you or the Dems anything. Meanwhile she spends time whining about money – less money, actually – going to Mitch to beat her. She’s not even elected but she’s still  full of dishonesty and hypocrisy.

BTW, what’s the POTUS hanging out with that fraud and race-baiter Al Sharpton? That’s disturbing. Audio at both links.  http://hotair.com/archives/2014/10/20/obama-hey-all-these-red-state-democrats-running-away-from-me-are-strong-supporters-who-vote-with-me/ and http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2014/10/116962.php

So, this isn’t about my feelings being hurt. These are folks who are strong allies and supporters of me. And I tell them, I said, you know what, you do what you need to win. I will be responsible for making sure that our voters turn up.

Obama? Heck Alison can’t even deny she’d vote for Harry Reid as Majority Leader if she’s elected. Ugh. http://weaselzippers.us/202552-alison-lundergan-grimes-refuses-to-say-if-she-would-vote-for-harry-reid-to-lead-senate-dems/

Obama, of course, had obliged us by formerly affirming that while his name isn’t on the ballots, it sure is his policies on the ballot, thus smashing the denials of redstate Dems. But Jonah Goldberg notes that Alison and other redstate Dems may be Hillary Clinton Dems but they’re sure not Bill Clinton Dems because Hillary’s politics are much more in line with Obama’s politics than Bill’s, reflecting not only her more radical politics but the movement of the Democratic Party to the left. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/390524/return-clinton-democrats-not-really-jonah-goldberg

Alison Lundergan Grimes is betting the farm on the popularity of the Clintons. Bill won both presidential races in Kentucky – the last Democrat to do so – and Hillary soundly defeated Obama in the 2008 primaries but I think their popularity, especially Hillary’s, is overrated. I think much of her success here in 2008 was due to a backlash against the anti-coalObama remarks and his conversation of bitter clingers. Obama calculated -unfortunately, correctly – that he could win w/o coal-producing redstate votes of Kentucky but Alison can’t afford that luxury. She needs all the votes she can get. I still don’t think she will win but the Dems have more money than the GOP, the Clintons are everywhere, KY has more registered Dems than Repubs, the MSM here are Democratic and Mitch isn’t very exciting. That may turn out to be his strong suit, there’s never been any scandal with Mitch, he’s viewed as a centrist, nobody much likes him but he’s hard to hate, his stances are pretty well-known – he’s actually been criticized in the past for his support of the coal industry by greenies, and best of all, nobody thinks he’s a toadie for the Clintons or Obama. In fact, we believe he dislikes Obama as much as we do.

Several times a week my local newspaper front-pages some lame policy proposal of Grimes or downplays any McConnell action or both. The bias of the [Ashland] Daily Independent is particularly harmful since it pretends to be neutral but their state analyst Ronnie Ellis has become increasingly desperate by combining cherry-picked commentary with straight news. For example last week he and a local reporter united to cheerlead a story of Grimes with a small group of nuns, highlighting their comments without noting their highly political views emanate from an atypical group of lefty Catholics. I don’t care that they highlighted the nuns, it’s that the Ellis analysis is so one-sided, e.g. all groups that support McConnell are routinely x-rayed for any possible link to any possible libertarian or conservative view. He also discussed the filibuster w/o noting the nuclear option recently invoked by the Democratic Senate to eliminate filibuster from any Republicans.

Similarly any Grimes gaffes that can be ignored are ignored. Those that can’t be ignored since they show up in pro-McConnell or anti-Grimes ads are relegated to minor status way down any articles.

But indy filmmaker James O’Keefe and his Project Veritas came out with a devastating today that is so ugly I don’t know if the MSM here – which is liberal – can completely ignore. Worse for Grimes, O’Keefe claims to have more secret video that’s even worse. My guess is the Grimes folks and the Clinton Dems will try to deflect by demonizing O’Keefe but I’ve seen the first video and the Grimes campaign and KY Dems are cynical and contemptuous of Kentucky voters.

“Politics is a lying game” from a KY Dem and Grimes operative is just a damning quote. “She has to say what she has to say to get elected” isn’t much better.

Watch it and see what you think. All 3 links report essentially the same but Gateway Pundit is more complete http://freebeacon.com/politics/grimes-staffers-suggest-kentucky-dem-lies-about-coal-support/ and http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/389631/grimes-staffers-caught-camera-admitting-shes-lying-about-support-coal-brendan-bordelon and http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2014/10/the-lying-game.php and http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2014/10/james-okeefe-to-alison-grimes-yes-another-shoe-is-about-to-drop/

The major KY news outlets are liberal – including  my local Ashland Daily Independent – and dutifully working their darn best to elect you, Ms Grimes. I used “Ms” because you tout yourself as a women’s advocate. Evidently because you’re a woman and Mitch McConnell is a man, he cannot speak for women. So far Mitch hasn’t charged you with similar negligence in speaking for men but that seems a fair balance to me. You are trying to instigate your own little #WarOnWomen  here in Kentucky. The Daily Independent frequently features large front-page stories with pics of Dems helping you in your quest by actively campaigning by your side; let’s review them, shall we?

Bill Clinton, chronic philanderer who was disbarred for life because he lied under oath during a sexual harassment lawsuit.

Former KY Governor Paul Patton who not only humiliated his long-time wife when the story of an affair became public but furthered the disgrace by threatening to use his office as governor to harm his mistress’ business when she broke up with him. I don’t know if I’d call that a war on women but it certainly was a War On A Woman. She finally went public with the affair to save her business.

Numerous state officials including the current governor and lieutenant governor, all of whom have been noticeably silent during one of our state’s biggest scandal, a scandal ignored by the national media. Three women, two from the highly respected LRC [Legislative Research Commission] charged a long-time Democratic legislator with repeated sexual harassment. The women were Democrats who complained about the harassment but were shocked to hear that they should Shut Up to prevent harm to the Kentucky Democratic Party. The LRC women complained to supervisor Bobby Sherman multiple times, who also advised them to ignore the harassment. Sherman eventually resigned, as did the state legislator, but he re-entered the LRC building the weekend after his resignation took effect in order to destroy an unknown number of documents on unknown topics. A state legislative Ethics Committee has declined to punish anyone for anything and a member recently resigned. The 3 women finally filed a civil lawsuit. You’re such a brave advocate for women, Ms Grimes, that you’ve refused to comment or condemn any of this.

Your daddy Jerry Lundergan owns a hamburger joint near the UK campus, named Hugh Jass and catering to the drinking frat boy crowd. Offerings include Charlotte’s Rack, named after your mom, Abby’s Hugh Jass, named after your sister, and The Tiny Tush. Wonder what the reaction would be if Mitch owned such an establishment?

You’ve also attacked Mitch and the GOP for accepting contributions from the Koch Brothers. I don’t understand the demonization of these 2 individuals, who aren’t particularly conservative and were #59 in the amount of monetary donations during the 2012 election. You’ve accepted donations from the likes of ultra-liberal, anti-coal, anti-fossil fuel Leo DiCaprio, Barbra Streisand, and Tom Steyer. See any disconnect there? Can you explain why it’s okay for you to accept big bucks from unions, who were huge top ten contributors in 2012, but the Koch Brothers are pariahs?

Lately you’ve been touting Mitch as a beltway insider – which is surely accurate – while you’re plain ole everyday Everyman, er, Everywoman. There may be some truth in that. After all, your biggest accomplishment is being former KY Democratic Party chair Jerry Lundergan’s daughter. Your daddy successfully ran Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign twice here in Kentucky and is a solid Clinton ally. You became Ky Secretary of State, no big accomplishment in a state run by Democrats. Other than wisely choosing a successful father, what makes you a good candidate for the United States Senate?

The KY media cover for you by ignoring dumb statements such as “Israel’s Iron Dome prevents Palestinian terrorist tunnel attacks” or your dishonesty in attacking Mitch for a supposed anti-coal bill or your dishonest claim to set Harry Reid and national Dems straight on coal during a big fundraiser – you didn’t say a thing to support coal -but this latest “I’m Not Barack Obama’ ad is pretty goofy. It’s also pretty dishonest because you attack Mitch for holding a rifle in the air, even though there’s pics out there of you in a similar gesture. Worse, you’re skeet shooting. Remember when folks made fun of Obama’s Mom jeans, girl bike with a big helmet, and his wimpy baseball toss at the opening of baseball season? His PR machine went into high gear by showing our president….. wait for it… skeet shooting.

Come to think of it, John Kerry did a similar ‘I’m just like you’ gun pose late in his 2004 campaign. Not good precedent, Alison, but hey, so far you haven’t done an “I’m Not a Witch” ad.
