Hey, if your job and standing within the scientific and academic world depended upon you finding AGW to please the big government/foundation gods, you’d likely find some of that lovely watermelon AGW too. Watermelon? Courtesy of James Delingpole, who always said the worldwide green movement is green on the outside but Red, a la communism/socialism, on the inside.

CartoonsbyJosh.com, above This is a few months old but I never got around to posting this, a humorous response to the latest – and possibly worst – United Nations IPCC Report and its vile threats. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/11/03/monday-mirthiness-josh-on-the-ipcc-ransom-note/
The climate change group is sounding increasingly desperate. There’s a reason for that and it has nothing to do with the environment. Ever so slightly, there’s a bit of light emerging on the AGW fraud, the lack of public interest in it, and the collapse of Big Green initiatives here and abroad. Really when you logically consider the history, economics and results of global warming, it sounds too stupid to be bought by many people. Of course, many of did, but many of us have awakened to the reality that the old problems of pollution have been largely dealt with in America but Big Green, politicians, various governments and certain businesses got used to the $$ to be made. Here’s some news:
Not just fixed-income limits but health issues. http://townhall.com/columnists/jimmartin/2014/10/02/new-report-seniors-bear-brunt-of-epa-regulations-n1899912/page/full In the winter of 2013, the elderly died in record numbers across a frigid Europe but evidently that’s not enough. Big Green has always touted overpopulation and a belief that the elderly need to die in order to save others. Overpopulation is one of the biggest Big Green lies but they can’t backtrack now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/energy-bills/11181803/Turn-your-thermostats-down-and-help-save-planet-elderly-told.html
Europe is generally fed up with their rush to “green” although there’s plenty of businesses and politicians eager to continue the money-making schemes, not to mention poor dummies like Prince Charles. BTW, the people making money are usually wealthy businessmen or landowners like Charles. http://www.thegwpf.com/germany-desperate-for-more-coal-power-to-keep-lights-on/
Socialism: Ideas so good they have to be mandatory. That applies in spades to AGW, adherents cannot tolerate any dissent, even by respected researchers. I guess Al Gore and RFK Jr know more about science than a respected scientist. This guy fought back and won. http://legalinsurrection.com/2015/03/is-the-era-of-voodoo-science-over/#more-119172
One of the earliest projects I took on as a citizen activist was promoting the work of former UCLA professor, Dr. James Enstrom, an epidemiologist who challenged the voodoo science used by the California Air Resources Board to pass stiff, new air emission regulations.
Seth Meyers tried to trap Ted Cruz [R-Tx] but Cruz is way smarter than the tv comedian. Here’s what Meyers was obliquely referring to, and Cruz is correct: Satellite data is more accurate by far than climate computer models. Even climate changers acknowledge this, which is why they always make excuses for the models. http://mashable.com/2014/10/21/scientists-1960s-satellite-climate-data/
Yep ISIS wants to take us back to a primitive way of life w/o all those new-fangled fossil fuel-sucking conveniences and that’s where Big Green and enviros want to take us http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/cbc-ideas-is-islam-the-green-religion-1.2810850
When the new president chose John Holdren as his science czar, you knew Obama was an ignorant political hack on the environment. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2014/11/obamas-settled-science.php

Where do they get their money? How much is their intake for a year? How much do they pay their employees? Where do they get their training? What is the overlap between Big Green and other NGOs or politicians? How many of their dire warnings have actually happened? What is the scientific background of their leaders/employees? How can they afford so many lawsuits against big companies or governments, lawsuits that can go on for years? How do their policies impact communities here and in other countries?
Most important: Who benefits from Big Green and/or their policies/activities/actions?
Don’t forget that American greenies and leftists base their demands on similar UN, European and Scandinavian policies. Unfortunately the EU and the UN are self-serving idiots who want more money and more power. http://joannenova.com.au/2014/08/eu-bans-good-vacuum-cleaners-next-big-kettles-hot-irons/ and http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2014/10/incredible-shrinking-goats-latest.html [Yep greenies rant that AGW causes…little goats]
The biggest help to our economy is the energy sector but ironically, Obama hates the fossil fuel industry with a passion. These brand new regulations won’t help our economy and will place burdens on the middle class, seniors and the poor by raising prices. Last week, my electric provider AEP requested another rate increase of +14%. http://thehill.com/regulation/pending-regs/215809-obama-hits-the-gas-on-regs and http://hotair.com/archives/2014/10/09/obama-clean-power-plan-seen-to-hit-seniors-minorities-hardest/
One could reasonably argue that CARB [California Air Resources Board] is largely responsible for driving out numerous businesses and raising prices I many areas of the economy but as long as Californians elect governors and other Pols who support their massive anti-biz agenda, then Californians deserve this. The new state regs are in addition to the coming fed regs, so they’ll get hit twice. Hey, people of Cali, go all West Virginian and throw off your many years of Democratic/liberal government. Go Light, go GOP and/or conservative-libertarian. Don’t any of you remember Reagan? http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/12/30/fuel-prices-going-up-as-greenhouse-regulations-hit-gas-diesel-fuels/
Remember the liberal rants against VP Dick Cheney because fossil fuel reps visited him when he was in office. Greenies hated and still hate Cheney. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/gop-lawmakers-probe-epa/article/2552733
The key similarity between the NRDC plan and what the EPA proposed in June is that states could include a variety of measures taken to reduce carbon emissions standards that occur outside the power plant.
Opponents, though, have called that approach legally questionable, as they contend the Clean Air Act — the federal law under which the EPA proposed the rule — only allows regulating at the smokestack. Doing so would result in less emissions reduction.
The proposed rule, due for finalization next June, aims to reduce carbon emissions from the power sector 30 percent below 2005 levels by 2030. It’s the most aggressive action the EPA has ever taken to address climate change, which a scientific consensus says is largely driven by humans burning greenhouse gas-emitting fossil fuels.
Britain went full-turkey on wind farms but the blowback [ hah no pun intended] from the people who live near them is getting stronger every day. It’s the wealthy who benefit from the wind farms because they collect huge leasing fees by placing them on their large estates. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2754679/The-scandal-UKs-death-trap-wind-turbines-A-turbine-built-115mph-winds-felled-50mph-gusts-Dozens-affected-cost-cutting-Why-residents-living-shadow-demanding-answers.html and http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/10/03/britains-green-energy-fiasco-deepens/
Jo Nova summarizes excerpts from a Wall Street Journal article. Google and the Obama admin have a cozy symbiotic relationship.: http://joannenova.com.au/2014/09/google-the-bird-killing-green-rent-seekers/
Meanwhile, Google uses mostly non-renewable fuel to power its operations, but has “pledged $1.5billion” to fund renewables. It has invested millions into solar panel plants that are “bird-fryers” — literally roasting birds in the sky. These investments mostly occur in states with renewable-mandates, would not survive without taxpayer funding, qualify for tax credits, and require infrastructure (like transmission lines) that electricity consumers or governments have to fund.
Greenpeace smugly took selfies of their recent destruction to Peru’s irreplaceable Nazca Lines, designated a World Cultural History site and forbidden to visitors. Blatantly breaking the law, Greenpeace activists tromped all over them in the dark early one morning to display a massive message of mundane change and promoting Greenpeace. It’s nothing more than a cheap commercial at the expense of a nation’s cultural heritage.

and didn’t like you having that much fun. So now the government says those nasty outdoor Christmas lights could be dangerous and they’re going to crack down on them. Other cynics like me note this is most likely another way to end incandescent lighting. I use only incandescent Christmas lights, inside or out, and they are exempt from the regulations that ended the production/sale of regular incandescent lights, as a novelty or specialty light. Uh oh, that’s not working out for the hardline greenies. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/12/28/regulation-gone-wild-christmas-lights-are-the-next-target-of-nanny-state-thinking/
Some say this is just an attempt to make the lights safer but only 250 people in the last 35 years have died from electrocution due to Christmas lights – I’m betting that figure includes a lot of drinking/stoned people plus slick snowy roofs – so that doesn’t sound like a major health hazard to me. Sounds as though they’re going to let the EPA regulate them, wonder of wonders.
The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has created an example of regulate first and explain why later. In October they proposed new regulations to outlaw strings of bulbs, lighted lawn figures and similar items that would be declared as hazardous. The red tape deals with certifying wire sizes, fuses, and tensile strength of all “seasonal decorative lighting products.”
This includes Christmas tree lights, lighted wreaths, menorahs, outdoor strands, lawn figures of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, or Santa or Rudolph or Frosty the Snowman. Yes, Kwanzaa, too. CPSC is an equal opportunity Scrooge. The agency estimates that their proposed regulations will impact 100 million items per year with a market value of $500 million.
Of course, those items already are covered by safety regulations and also by industry standards and oversight. CPSC admits that 3.6-million unsafe lights were recalled under existing safeguards in place since 1974.
Heh, I’ve bought a couple of big totes’ worth of old-fashioned Christmas lights and I’m never going to the sick-looking energy-efficient ones. Mine are beautiful and healthy-looking. And fun, so keep your old regulations, EPA.
Might as well say it. Greenies want to stop reliable energy production, and with it manufacturing, in the United States but we have a higher standard of living than most of the world. Celebrity greenies like Barbra, Leo, George, the Kerrys and others have a very high standard of living. What about the poorer nations? Why do enviros fight a coal-fired plant in poorest Africa? Why do they fight genetically modified food that’s specifically made to grow in poor soil or droughts and has a higher protein content for hungry kids? There’s not a smidgen of credible evidence that GMO foods are harmful to health. In fact, former Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore admits the Big Green corporation made up the scare to raise money during a slow time, never suspecting it would become a cornerstone of the eco-movement.
Obama has forbidden US foreign aid $$ to be used on coal-fired power plants, hurting poor countries, especially Africa. http://in.reuters.com/article/2013/06/27/usa-climate-world-bank-coal-plants-idINDEE95Q00E20130627 World Bank plans to limit financing of coal-fired power plants.
Al Gore has kids – what is 3 or 4 kids – but he’s telling Africans to have fewer children. Don’t you wish liberals would stay out of our bedrooms? What gives Gore the right to tell people how many, if any, kids people should have? http://www.climatedepot.com/2014/01/27/gore-fertility-management-is-needed-in-africa-to-help-control-the-proliferation-of-unusual-weather/
John Kerry is even worse, he doesn’t want Africans to expand farms or develop new farms to feed their kids because…..AGW. http://dailycaller.com/2014/08/06/top-5-moments-from-the-africa-summit-video/ President Obama attended the same conference where he showed his intellectual prowess by his usual bad-mouthing Republicans, which was not only bizarre, not only useless, but also hypocritical because the best friend the African continent had was President George W Bush. Obama, OTOH, cut aid to Africa as soon as he came into office.
Why worry about carbon? It’s a good thing, especially to poor countries which have problems growing enough food. http://www.nationalreview.com/energy-weekThe Carbon-Benefit Deniers
Does anyone seriously think starving people care about GMO? That’s a First World Problem. Even if it turns out – by real time experience and real science not repeated myths from a bunch of privileged white liberals – that there are problems, the plant can continue to be modified to healthier results. You’d let a kid die from starvation before you’d let him eat genetically modified food? What kind of snob are you, anyway? http://www.the-american-interest.com/blog/2014/07/21/anti-gmo-activists-are-harming-hungry-Africans/
African crop yields lag well behind those of the world’s developed countries, and the continent’s food security is shaky at best. Starvation is an ever-present threat for many, and the impending effects of climate change loom ominously in the distance. But scientists have solutions, genetically modified crops that are resistant to droughts, pests, and disease, that, pending government approval, are ready for planting. Dismayingly, Luddite anti-GMO campaigners have smeared these potential problem-solvers as unsafe and unnatural, and as a result, to-date no African government has approved the use of GM crops.
Oh, dear. That smugness isn’t often based on fact but on the need to feel smug. As Kate at Small Dead Animals says, “Drama Queen Studies.” http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science/sorry-hipsters-organic-kale-genetically-modified-food-180952656/?no-ist and http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2014/10/06/this-unhinged-womans-tearful-rant-will-change-your-mind-about-food-forever-or-something/. Guess calling someone a specieist is an insult but this radical vegan sounds like a nut and I don’t mean macadamia. There’s a video of her screaming at stunned diners if you can bear to watch meltdowns from weird women.
Big Green: Making white liberals feel better about themselves since 1970 [I know, I was a greenie for many years. After a while, the lies became larger than the good feelings]. Just don’t forget, they’re more compassionate. Don’t worry about forgetting, they constantly tell us that
It was that radical lesbian feminist Andrea Dworkin who said, “If you think pornography is about sex, you need to see more porn.”
I say, “If you think the environmental movement is about the environment, you need to learn more about Big Green and the politicians who traffic in it.”
If you missed this in my post a couple of days ago, here’s more on the EPA/Big Green collusion. This may be illegal in some aspects but in any case it’s highly unethical, and makes it impossible to have an open playing field about climate change. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/09/15/report-emails-reveal-collusion-with-green-activist-groups-over-epa-climate-agenda/
SDA posts on the Burning Birds at a Bright Source Energy solar farm in the Mojave Desert. Oddly enough, the MSM response is mostly silence while greenies claim 1[ they’ll work out the problem and 2] it’s well worth the sacrifice to have this energy. I respond 1] Coal-fired power plants say they can meet the new and stringent EPA regs but they need a little time, less than 5 years and 2] why are birds\animals killed in an oil spill sacred but the solar-killed birds aren’t as worthy. No poignant Dawn dish detergent ads for the poor little Fried Birds of Solar. That hardly seems fair. http://www.smalldeadanimals.com/archives/we-dont-need-no-434.html
Oh, dear. Sometimes Gaia won’t cooperate. No problem, it’s not likely Brian Williams or Wolf Blitzer or NPR will mention this inconvenient truth. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/windpower/9889882/Wind-farms-will-create-more-carbon-dioxide-say-scientists.html?fb
There are 2 undeniable facts concerning “renewable energy” or “green energy.” One is that it has never existed anywhere, at any time, in any country, without substantial government subsidies. That was true in the Carter era of green, too. Fact two is that when those “sustainable energy” subsidies become unsustainable to governments, the cost will be passed on to consumers. And, buddy, it’s gonna be expensive. Just ask Spain. Or Germany. Or Britain. Or Canada. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/07/14/barking-mad-a-rave-prompted-by-facing-insane-heating-costs/#more-112908
For a real discussion, common sense and experience won’t work. You need facts, here are some. Of course you’ll be arguing with religious zealots, so there’s that. Good luck. http://yidwithlid.blogspot.ca/2014/09/eight-global-warming-facts-neither-un.html Eight Global Warming Facts To Which The UN & Monday’s Climate Marchers Cannot Respond
4) There is not ONE climate computer model that has accurately connected CO2 to climate change. In fact CO2 is at its highest levels in 13,000 years and the earth hasn’t warmed in almost 18 years. Approximately 12,750 years ago before big cars and coal plants CO2 levels were higher than today. And during some past ice ages levels were up to 20x today’s levels.
The Socialist basis of the enviro movement is finally coming out into the open. Here’s a sign from the climate march that covers an array of far-left causes. When will we hear the president and every single Democrat politician be asked to condemn the likes of this, aka the Tea Party was of GOP politicians? Of course the only radicalism of the Tea Party was smaller government, spend less money and pay attention to the Constitution.
