the movie, of course. It came around yesterday to my little town and we went as quickly as we could to Dinesh D’Souza’s new documentary.
How does it compare to his previous documentary 2016: Obama’s America, which became the second highest grossing documentary in history only to be panned by the few critics who deigned to see it and ignored by the Oscars and any film festivals? It’s very different. The first one was an attempt to educate voters to the most basic vetting of Obama the MSM failed to do. For some of us, that negligence of the media was a sea change that we cannot trust the media or the Democratic Party or numerous organizations that we formerly respected such as the NAACP or the Humane Society or the EPA or most colleges or well, you get the idea. I’m not sure the MSM have been trustworthy for a long time but they became very careless in their disdain of Middle America.
America hatred that gets worse with each semester? Tired of analyst after analyst on television “news” show spew Blame America First hatred so fast your head spins? You need to see this movie. Here’s the link to find out where it’s playing http://www.americathemovie.com/
As for me, I fought back tears a few times because I’m a bit of a softie patriot and also because as a Baby Boomer who bought into this kind of rhetoric during my 1960’s college days, I have a lot to answer for. I was dumb to see that we were all being manipulated, from the clothes we wore to the chants we so blithely chanted to our very beliefs we assumed we thought of. Of course, few of us believed in this stuff very strongly or were truly anti-military and we went on to quite mundane lives, recalling our peace symbol belts and copies of Michael Harrington in sociology class with faint nostalgia in the manner of previous students with cramming people into phone booths and ukuleles. We were too naïve to see we were practice cannon fodder for the next generation who grew up acclimated to our insipid ‘Make love not war’ and ‘We can put a man on the moon, why can’t we stop world hunger’ and ‘It’ll be a great day when our schools have enough money and our military has to hold a bake sale.’ We were young and healthy and smart and loved and had no idea how unique we were in the world or how easily we could lose that.
Dinesh’s first movie was ‘think before you vote, do you really know Obama’ but this movie is ‘ Get up, get out there, it’s up to us to save America, if it’s not already too late!’ Go see the movie before you decide whether to accept this mission.
This is a little bit of why I started my little blog. I don’t have the time or resources for this and I feel too old to keep up with it sometimes but after reading the Glenn Reynolds game-changing book An Army of Davids, which advocates the importance of a mass movement of small steps, I thought maybe if I gave useful info or encouraged one person a week, that would help.
If you haven’t read Atlas Shrugged, I urge you to do so. The left ridicules libertarians/conservatives for basing an ideology or movement upon a book of fiction but mocking is what they do best. The book isn’t a bible or answer to everything but I think you’ll find it inspiring. Besides look at all the goofy books and movies lefties revere.
